Advantages of dry vacuum pump in vacuum evaporation and other production processes Aug 02, 2022

Vacuum evaporation is a major production process in light chemical industry. Its working principle is a physical process: the evaporation rate of the solvent in the solution is related to the external resistance. Under vacuum conditions, the boiling point of the solution decreases, and the resistance of the solvent molecules to escape from the liquid level also decreases. At the same time, the vacuum pump is used to make the difference between the negative pressure caused by the internal space of the evaporator and the pressure at the bottom of the evaporator as the power to make the solution circulate automatically, so as to improve the evaporation speed.

To sum up, vacuum evaporation can reduce the boiling point of solution under low pressure and evaporate a large amount of water with less steam.

The advantages of vacuum evaporation are as follows:

● it can increase the temperature difference between heating steam and boiling liquid at the same pressure, increase the production capacity of the evaporator, and accordingly reduce the heat transfer area of evaporation;

● low pressure steam or waste steam can be used as heating steam;

● it can be used to concentrate solutions that are not resistant to high temperature and are easy to decompose and deteriorate;

● as the boiling point of the solution decreases, the evaporator loses less heat from the outside.

Therefore, compared with the traditional evaporation process, vacuum evaporation needs to add a set of vacuum system to maintain the vacuum degree of the evaporation chamber. In chemical production, water ring vacuum pump is usually used to vacuum and cooperate with material evaporation.

The water ring vacuum pump itself is not sensitive to water vapor, and has no exhaust valve and friction surface. It can pump out dusty gas, condensable gas and gas water mixture, and the equipment failure rate is low. A variety of materials are available. With these outstanding characteristics, water ring vacuum pumps are widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, machinery, mining, light industry, medicine, food and many other fields. In many industrial processes, such as vacuum filtration, vacuum water diversion, vacuum feeding, vacuum evaporation, vacuum concentration, vacuum moisture regain and vacuum degassing, water ring vacuum pumps are also needed.

However, due to the structure of water ring vacuum pump, its shortcomings are also relatively obvious.

● first of all, the water ring vacuum pump has high operating power, and its pumping speed will fluctuate with the water temperature, resulting in low efficiency, which is generally about 30%, and only 50% is better;

● secondly, the water ring vacuum pump will produce a large amount of waste water during operation, polluting the environment and increasing costs;

● finally, limited by the structure and the saturated vapor pressure of the working fluid, the extreme vacuum degree of the water ring vacuum pump is low, about 2000~4000pa, especially when the circulating water temperature is high, the vacuum degree is not ideal, which affects the efficient operation of the whole evaporation system.

In recent years, many vacuum equipment manufacturers have developed new products to replace the role of water ring vacuum pump in the industrial field due to the irreparable defects of water ring vacuum pump and the gradual enhancement of domestic low-carbon environmental protection awareness. Among them, dry vacuum pump becomes the most preferred.

For example, Laibao vacuum takes the clawvac dry vacuum pump as a new benchmark for crude vacuum products, and Laibao innovatively applies the clawvac dry vacuum pump to the vacuum evaporation process. The equipment has lower operating power, does not consume water when working, and there is no oil in the pump chamber, which theoretically eliminates the generation of waste water. Its stainless steel rotor and PTFE coated pump cavity effectively avoid the problem of medium corrosion.

In contrast, the suction capacity of the water ring vacuum pump is 400m ³/ h. The rated power is 11kw. The rated power of Laibao clawvac dry screw pump is 6.2kw, saving 50% energy. The dry vacuum pump can also use frequency conversion in operation, and the real-time energy-saving effect is better. If the operation time is 8000 hours per year, the power consumption of Laibao dry vacuum pump is 38400 degrees less than that of water ring vacuum pump, which can reduce the carbon emission by about 28.3 tons per year.

In this way, replacing the water ring vacuum pump with a dry vacuum system is a more energy-saving, reliable and environmentally friendly choice, which is in line with the general trend of industrial production and an ideal choice for the national double carbon goal.
